The song chosen is called 'so was i' by Stevie R, The song fits perfectly into the R&B genre, this is due to factors of the artist being of a black ethnicity. From our previous research we learnt that R&B was a a term used to describe the style of African American music. Additionally, every artist that we have researched has been of a black ethnicity this suggests that this is a typical code and convention of R&B. Themes with this particular song, are very conventional to R&B, it is based around the theme of love and breakup, this is typically what R&B songs are about. The genre focuses on solo artists rather than groups. This is a typical convention and the artist within this song both sings and raps, so the focus is solely on the artist within the song and also, he will be one of the main characters within the music video. Along with the binary opposite (the female character). From our audience questionnaires we found that R&B was a popular genre.
